Stone plaques are the heaviest and most permanent-looking option in this range, and they suit dedications, donor recognition and building or groundbreaking commemoration. Two different things are sold under this heading, and the difference is worth knowing before you order.
Genuine stone, and stone-look finishes
Genuine stone is cut from solid rock. The Genuine Granite Wall Plaque is described as cut from solid stone rather than cast, and the range includes versions with gold-toned, silver-toned and sublimated full-color plates. The Marble Triangular Custom Nameplate lists marble and stone as its material.
Marble-finish boards
Marble-finish items are a wood board carrying a stone-look plate, not cut stone. The Black Marble Finish Award Plaque with Silver Plate and the Light Oak Award Plaque with Marble-Design Plate are both built this way. They are lighter and cost less than cut stone, and they look closer to a traditional recognition plaque. We say which is which on the product page rather than letting the name imply it.
Marble edges on wood
A third group uses stone only at the edge, such as the Marble-Edged Custom Screenprinted Plaque on walnut. The stone is a border rather than the face.
Engraving on stone
Genuine granite is laser engraved directly or carries an engraved metal plate, and some versions take a sublimated full-color plate. Marble-look plates are screenprinted or engraved like any other plate. Detail on stone reads differently from brass, so ask us for a proof if your logo has fine lines.
