What Is California Proposition 65?

California Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, requires the State of California to maintain and publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. It also requires businesses to provide a clear and reasonable warning before knowingly exposing any individual in California to one or more listed chemicals.
