Glass Awards and Glass Trophies in One Range
Glass takes a deep etch that cuts into the surface instead of sitting on top of it, so a name or a logo will not peel or fade the way a printed sticker can. The material turns up here in forms such as a 12 inch standing tower, a 5 by 7 inch wall plaque and a 3 inch desk paperweight.
Towers, curved panels and art glass
The Magnum Opus Optical Crystal Tower Award stands 12 inches tall on a 5.5 inch square base, weighs 19 pounds and carries a 3 by 1.5 inch etched panel on the front. A 10 inch faceted tower with a blue base tone throws light across its angled sides. Curved panel awards run wider and flatter: the Customized Times Large Glass Award measures 13 by 7 inches at 0.38 inch thick and takes a 10 by 6 inch imprint on the back.
Wall plaques and desk pieces
Black glass wall plaques come in seven sizes, from 5 by 7 inches up to 12 by 15 inches. The Direct-Engraved Black Glass Wall Plaque With Single-Color Deep Etch cuts the design straight into the face, while other versions in the same sizes add finishes such as a gold-tone or silver contrast plate, or a sublimated insert that reproduces a full color photo. Beveled Starfire crystal plaques step through five sizes starting at 7 by 9 inches. Some fused art glass plaques sit on walnut or piano finish wood with an acrylic spacer that lifts the glass forward and casts a shadow line, while a flat version mounts straight to the wall on a back hanger. At the small end, a freestanding rectangle crystal paperweight comes in four sizes from 3 to 6 inches long.
Colors and finishes
Clear glass is the starting point, and color reaches these pieces in more than one way. Cobalt blue accents sit inside the clear body of the Arctic Ice art glass award, a dichroic coating shifts color as light moves across it, black glass gives etched text a dark background, and a soft jade tint runs through the curved Chronicle panels. Fused art glass carries color through the panel in tones such as blue, red, sapphire, jasper and ebony. Color can also arrive at decoration, through a sublimated insert plate or a colorfill in the etch.
Who orders glass awards
Glass awards go to occasions such as service milestones, retirements, golf tournaments and putting contests. Many items start at one piece, including the black glass wall plaques, the fused art glass plaques and the Starfire crystal paperweights, so a single retirement gift is a normal order.
