Description
A black crystal award in smoky grey black takes a waisted, flared silhouette with a broad angled bevel swept across its top edge, set into a round two tier base. Executive committees and annual conference organisers give it when the piece has to look serious rather than celebratory.
Three sizes stand 9.75 inches, 10.75 inches and 11.75 inches tall, each 3 inches deep at the base, so even the smallest reads as a full height trophy rather than a desk ornament. Deep etching can go on the front or the back across 2 by 6 inches, 2.5 by 7 inches or 3 by 8 inches, and etching the front is the better call here because the smoky crystal is translucent rather than clear. Board retirements, chairman awards, partner promotions and end of tenure gifts all suit the darker tone, and the same shape is also produced in jade green and in clear starfire when black is too sombre for the occasion. The base stacks in two round tiers, lifting the panel and adding weight low down.
A retiring director who already has a shelf of trophies is sometimes better served by the Moreland clock and card holder, which earns its space on a desk by telling the time every working day. Anyone comparing this against the jade glass awards range will find the same tall silhouette in green, so the choice is really about whether the recipient's office runs dark or light, and how tall the shelf is.
Send the artwork and ask for an etch proof against the smoky stock before the run begins; production is five working days from your approval, and dark crystal shows a proof differently than paper does.

Delivered. Enter a destination ZIP in the order card to get live carrier rates and a delivery date. We will not guess one.
Business days only, counted from proof approval. The clock starts when you say yes, not when you order. Weekends and US federal holidays are skipped.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a black crystal award look like in the light?
The black crystal award is smoky grey black and translucent rather than opaque, so a lamp behind it lifts the whole panel. The broad bevel across the swept top edge picks up a bright line where it catches. Against a dark suit the piece reads as a silhouette rather than a shine.
How tall is the black crystal award in each size?
The black crystal award stands 9.75 inches, 10.75 inches or 11.75 inches tall, each 3 inches deep at the base. Width runs from 5.5 inches to 6.5 inches across the panel. All three are full height pieces rather than desk ornaments.
Where should a black crystal award be etched, front or back?
The black crystal award can be deep etched on either face, and the front is usually the better choice. Smoky crystal is translucent rather than clear, so a mark etched on the back reads softer than one on the front. Areas run 2 by 6 inches, 2.5 by 7 inches and 3 by 8 inches by size.
Can the same shape be ordered in another colour?
The black crystal award is also produced in jade green and in clear starfire, using the identical waisted silhouette and stacked base. Black suits a formal board occasion, jade a long service programme and clear a general recognition night. Etch areas stay the same across all three.
Which occasions call for a darker toned trophy?
The black crystal award suits board retirements, chairman recognition, partner promotions and end of tenure gifts. A darker piece reads as gravity rather than celebration, which fits a farewell better than a sales night. It also photographs well under warm stage lighting.
What should be budgeted for when pricing a small run?
The black crystal award is priced on quantity, the height chosen and the etch area used on the panel. A second etch position on the opposite face is quoted separately. Artwork setup is charged once, so a repeat run next year takes less preparation.
Does the panel come already set into its base?
The black crystal award arrives with the panel seated in its round two tier base. The base is machined to hold the flared silhouette upright without glue at the joint. Nothing is assembled before the presentation.
How long is production and how does the piece ship?
The black crystal award takes five working days of production from artwork approval, then carrier transit. Each piece weighs about 1.5 pounds and travels one to a carton, packed with foam around the bevel. Tell us the ceremony date and the run can be planned back from it.
