Description
The glass apple award carries a molded stem and leaf on a solid glass body, so a teaching gift reads as an apple from across the room instead of another flat plaque. Schools, districts, and training teams hand it out for teaching honors, retirement, and end of year thank-yous.
At a staff breakfast in June, give the 2.75 inch clear apple to every teacher on the team and the 3.5 inch frosted one to the person taking a retirement bow, and the size difference does the ranking for you without a word. Parent groups pick the green apple for volunteer thank-yous, and training departments give one to mentors who close out a coaching cycle. Deep etching cuts a 2 by 0.75 inch panel across the front of the fruit, so keep the art bold and simple. A school crest, a district name, or a single year reads clean, while thin serif type and hairline logos fight the curve of the glass. Districts often etch a crest on the fruit and nothing else.
Pair it with our customizable glass apple paperweight with etching when you want a flat piece that takes a longer engraved message, since the two sit together on one recognition table and share the same theme. The rest of our education awards covers desk pieces and keepsakes for the same program, so one order can dress an entire ceremony. Both pieces run on the same 5 day production schedule, so a mixed order ships together.
Send your art and request a quote for one piece or a full staff run. Production takes 5 working days from the day you approve the art.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a glass apple award and who gives one?
A glass apple award is a solid molded glass apple with a stem and leaf, given as a teaching or mentoring recognition piece. Schools, districts, parent groups, and corporate training teams order it for teacher appreciation, retirement, and volunteer thank-yous. The apple also works as a desk paperweight once the ceremony is over.
What sizes and colors does the glass apple award come in?
The glass apple award comes in a 2.75 inch clear apple, a 2.75 inch green apple, and a 3.5 inch frosted apple. The larger frosted size suits a headline honor, while the smaller sizes fit a full staff run. All three carry the same molded stem and leaf.
What size artwork fits on a glass apple award?
Deep etching on the glass apple award covers a 2 by 0.75 inch panel on the front of the fruit. The body curves tightly, so bold shapes, a short name, or a single date etch cleanly. Fine serif text and hairline logos lose their definition on that curve.
Can a detailed logo with small text be etched onto the apple?
Detailed logos and small text do not hold their shape on the curved body of a glass apple award, so simplify the art before production. An optional etched base gives you a flat surface for a longer message, a full logo, or a list of names. Send the file and we will tell you which parts need to be simplified.
What school events use a glass apple award most often?
A glass apple award turns up at teacher appreciation week, end of year staff breakfasts, retirement send-offs, and volunteer nights. District offices hand them out at board recognition meetings and new teacher induction. Training departments outside education use the same piece for mentor and instructor honors.
What is the minimum order and how long does production take?
The minimum order for a glass apple award is one piece, and production takes 5 working days from artwork approval. Shipping time is added to that window. A single retirement gift and a full staff run follow the same schedule.
How is the price of a custom glass apple worked out?
The price of a custom glass apple award depends on quantity, the size you choose, and whether you add an etched base. Etching on the fruit and etching on a base are quoted separately. Send your quantity and art file and we will send an exact quote.
How should a glass apple award be cleaned and stored?
Clean a glass apple award with a soft dry cloth, or a cloth barely dampened with water. The deep etch is cut into the glass, so wiping will never fade it. Keep it back from the edge of a shelf, since solid glass chips if it lands on a hard floor.
