What blue means in branding
The trust color, and the safest choice on a corporate product. We stock 203 blue shades across 10,745 products.
What blue says about a brand
Blue reads as trust, stability and competence in nearly every market that has been surveyed on it, which is why it dominates banking, healthcare, insurance and technology branding. It is also the least disliked color across genders and age groups, so it offends nobody. The cost of that safety is distinctiveness: a blue logo on a blue product is the single most common combination in corporate merchandise.
Who uses blue on branded merchandise
Blue is the default for anything that has to look institutional — conference bags, healthcare giveaways, financial services gifts, university merchandise. Navy in particular behaves like a neutral: it goes with almost any imprint color and hides marks on a product that will be handled a lot.
Before you send artwork
Printing on blue
Navy and royal blue are dark enough that a dark imprint disappears on them. Plan for a white or metallic imprint, and ask for the reversed version of the logo before artwork goes to production. A mid blue is the awkward case: neither a white nor a black imprint has much contrast on it.
Check your imprint against a specific shade in the contrast checker, or read the artwork guidelines for what a printer needs.
