A piano wood plaque with a gold shovel is a commemorative award that marks a construction milestone or a ceremonial first dig. Laser engraving is the better choice when the wording must stay readable for decades, because the mark is cut into the surface and cannot rub off. Send logo artwork as vector files (.ai, .eps, or .pdf) so fine detail survives at that width. Wipe the wood with a dry, soft cloth and clean the gold-plated shovel with a dry microfiber cloth only. Household cleaners, metal polish, and water all cause damage, since solvents dull plating and moisture raises the wood grain. Display the plaque away from direct sunlight, which fades both the wood tone and screen-printed ink over time.

The 5-1/2 inch shovel is gold-plated, not solid gold, so a thin gold layer covers a base metal core. Plating delivers the ceremonial look without the weight or cost of solid metal. The shovel is a display piece rather than a working tool, so treat it as decoration and not as usable hardware.

Per-unit pricing depends on order quantity, the decoration method you choose, and how much copy goes on the plate. Quantity drives most of the difference, since the price per plaque drops at each quantity break. Order at least three to four weeks before the ceremony so artwork setup, proof approval, decoration, and transit all fit inside the window. Production does not start until you approve the proof, so a slow sign-off on name spellings is the most common cause of a missed date.
