Metal plaques cover two different things, and the difference matters when you are comparing prices. Most are a wood board fronted with an engraved brass or aluminum plate, which is the standard construction for a recognition award. A smaller group is metal all the way through.
Metal on wood, and metal throughout
The plate-on-board group is the larger one and includes the Screenprinted Brass Plaque range on cove-edge walnut, rosewood piano finish and mahogany, plus the Custom Bronze Engraved Deco Plaque Sign on walnut. The solid group includes the Full Color Dash Plaques in aluminum and the Kingston Metallic Plaque in aluminum and jade.
Brass, aluminum and bronze
Brass is the most common plate metal here and takes fine engraving detail. Aluminum appears on the sublimation range, where the plate is heat-fused in full color rather than cut, including the Aluminum Sublimation Plaque and the Sublimated Plaques 8" x 6". Bronze appears as an antique-finish casting, as on the Frame Plaque in antique bronze and walnut.
Cast metal detail
Several items carry a cast metal element rather than a flat plate, such as the Cast Metal Star Plaque on rosewood piano finish and the Royal Honors Plaque. These sit proud of the board and give more depth than an engraved plate alone.
Engraving and full color
Brass and aluminum plates are laser engraved or screenprinted. The sublimation range prints in full color instead, which suits a logo with several colors or a photograph. Engraving detail and imprint area are recorded per item.
